Still on the shelves

Still on the shelves

We never ever lose the thrill of walking into a bookshop and finding our book on the shelf...this time in Sydney at the magnificently beautiful Novella Fine Books, Cards and Gifts in the leafy garden township of Wharoonga. Sydney. Tim has signed it so it is waiting there for someone special. We are always humbled and grateful for how far and how wide this book has reached and touched people and always thankful to Allen & Unwin Books for publishing Tim's story. It's a wonderful life. A Double Shot of Happiness was published in 2015 we are so proud it is still on the shelves.

Speakers Elisa and Martin's remembrance day St. Lucy's

Speakers Elisa and Martin's remembrance day St. Lucy's

One year ago, 11 year old Elisa and 10 year old Martin died with their mother Maria in their family home under the most tragic and heartbreaking circumstances. Both children lived with autism. May they forever rest in peace. Their family dog also died. Their father was found dead in the home. Today Tim and I have come to their Sydney school St Lucy's School as guest speakers for the launch of the Elisa and Martin art exhibition, bursary and dedication of the school's art studio to their memory. Both children were excellent artists and their mother was in awe of their talent and believed in all that art brought to their lives and could bring to their futures. From the worst of times the school community gathers together today, remembers, learns, commits to never let their memory fade away with a dedication to the children. It was their mothers wish for her children to have art always in their lives and even in death the power of her love has ensured her wish has been fulfilled and that all children and future generations at that school will also have the chance to find their own joy and voice in art, in the name of Elisa and Martin . Out of the heart breaking sadness of things we can never ever understand or explain, art and love triumph giving hope and a future for many children in the memory of her own lost babies. What a gift and lesson Maria has left us all with. We are honoured to be here to share it with so many good people who want to make a difference. And from this sadness love conquers all. Never be alone always call out to a friend and they'll be there, there is more love and goodness around us than we ever know. . #autism #autismawareness @St.Lucy'sSchool is a school of 120 students all with disabilities.

Part of the band

Part of the band

In the last few days of the theatre production we have been recalling how this project began four years ago and how many times we were told, it could never work, that we couldn't have a main character, the show's hero, who didn't talk, didn't say a word. But Tim, along with Dead Puppet Society always believed it could, and with a team of artistic genius, we all gave our best, to make Tim's dream real. The beliefs of our hero were more powerful than any words that could be spoken, no one on our team ever doubted that. Laser Beak Man and Tim's world is all about happiness and love and equality and no one left the theatre not knowing that. Last night, at the last show of this season Sam Cromack of Ball Park Music and Nicole Neil our stage manger presented Tim with these gifts from all the cast and crew, perfect symbols of what this production is all about, Tim received his uniform just like all the other cast members and his own electric guitar so he could play with the band always, just like he has most days of the production. And in one emotion packed moment as the gifts were opened and the joy was shared, we showed the world what a real hero is, it is not in the words that are spoken, it is in the leadership of taking others to a better place, that is what Tim does everyday, Tim's endless hugs, his kind words, his willingness to share the love in his heart make him the biggest hero we know. It doesn't seem that long ago that I had a four year old little boy who I was always being told would never speak and had to go "over there" and now his message,is more powerful than any words and so many want to walk with him and into the wonderful world that is his.We did it together and Tim is the hero, just because he is always Tim. Thank you to each and every one of our open hearted, loving, good heroes of the entire team, you made something really important and we did it together and with love and the greatest gift of all is love, it will always remain. bring on the world tour!
